On 14 October an explosion occurred in Guayaquil close to the Mall del Sol shopping centre and the Sheraton hotel. The explosion is under investigation as a possible terrorist incident. You should avoid the area and follow the instructions of the local authorities (See ‘Safety and Security’ page).
