Many in our industry are aware of ABTA’s charity, LifeLine, including its fundraising activities – in fact, its events programme for the year has just been finalised. But not everyone knows who LifeLine is for and how it can help.
LifeLine is there to help relieve financial hardship for families and individuals in our travel industry. The charity is an important member benefit, as only current or former employees of ABTA member companies are eligible for support.
Last year, the Financial Conduct Authority reported that 7.4 million people are struggling to pay their bills. LifeLine can provide free, confidential debt and benefit support as well as help with priority bills, replace essential household goods and provide counselling support. But it can do so much more.
We need your help to spread the word of the support LifeLine can provide. If you know someone in financial difficulty, whether that’s because of a disability, sickness, going through a relationship breakdown or caring for someone for example, do let them know about LifeLine. It’s those unexpected costs that often turn a manageable situation into an unmanageable one. LifeLine may well be able to help make life just that bit easier at a very difficult time.
