Supporting members as the great summer getaway begins

This weekend is always a very busy one for our members with the last schools in the UK having broken up for the summer.
We estimate that over two million people will be heading off overseas. As always, in our work with media and on social media, we are advising customers to leave plenty of time to get to their departure port and, if using public transport, to check for engineering works.
Members have reported back that Spain remains the number one destination for families, but they are also seeing strong demand for, among others, Greece, Portugal, Turkey, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Italy, Malta, Morocco and Cape Verde.
We are also recommending that customers use ABTA’s travel checklist which gives eight helpful and essential tips to help customers prepare for their summer break including checking FCDO advice, taking out comprehensive travel insurance and sticking to the 100ml rule when taking liquids through security.
We shared this advice in numerous BBC radio interviews last week and also took the opportunity to recommend that people use the services of their local ABTA member.
