Trudie Clements, Director of ABTA LifeLine, is running her first-ever London Marathon on Sunday 27 April to raise vital funds for travel industry colleagues facing hardship.
With a fundraising goal of £3,000, Trudie has been training all through the winter and is calling on the travel community to do what they can to support her efforts, either through donations or cheering from the sidelines on the day to help her get round the 26.2 mile route.
Donations can be made to Trudie’s JustGiving page, which sends funds directly to the charity.
Trudie commented:
“While many charities have allocated places for the London Marathon, LifeLine doesn’t and so I was extremely lucky to secure mine through the ballot.
“The preparation so far has been tough, but I see first-hand the difference LifeLine’s support makes to people in our industry who have fallen on hard times, which is really helping me push through these last few weeks of training to make it to the starting line.
“I’m delighted to have reached half of my fundraising goal to date and would be so grateful to anyone who is able to make a donation to help support colleagues in our industry who are struggling.”
Alongside Trudie’s marathon effort, ABTA LifeLine is holding two fundraising events before the summer.
ABTA LifeLine’s Golf Day returns for a second year on Thursday 12 June at Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex. The Texas scramble format means it is open to golfers of all levels. Everyone is in with a chance of winning. Visit the link to find out more and register your team: External Link.
From 15-21 June, this year’s G Trek for Good challenge will take participants on a 45km hike through the Andes Mountains to the remote Incan city of Choquequirao to raise funds for ABTA LifeLine and Planeterra. Each trekker must fundraise at least £1,000 with proceeds supporting both charities. Visit the link to find out more and register to take part: External Link.
Every donation, ticket or team entry helps ABTA LifeLine continue to provide financial aid, mental health support and practical assistance to travel professionals when they need it most. Find out more about LifeLine at External Link.
