Neil Swanson, TUI UK&I Managing Director, has been appointed to the ABTA Board of Directors, with his term on the board commencing in February 2025.

The ABTA Board comprises both individuals who have been elected by fellow members to represent businesses of different sizes (by turnover) and, as in the case of Neil Swanson, people who have been appointed to the Board from both inside and outside of the travel industry.

Neil was appointed TUI UK&I Managing Director in October 2024, after starting his career with TUI in 2001 launching the first websites for the Lunn Poly and Thomson brands. This was followed by various ecommerce sales and development roles before taking up the position of Chief Marketing Officer in 2023.

Alistair Rowland, ABTA Chairman, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Neil onto the ABTA Board on behalf of my fellow ABTA Board members. His expertise and the in-depth experience he has gained in the travel industry and the wider commercial sector will be invaluable as we continue to look at ways to enhance our services to members and safeguard their interests in our dealings with leading decision makers.”

Neil Swanson TUI UK&I Managing Director, commented:

"I'm honoured to join the ABTA Board of Directors at this exciting time for the travel industry. Having been part of TUI's journey for over two decades, I've witnessed firsthand the evolving landscape of travel and the crucial role ABTA plays in supporting and safeguarding our sector. I'm looking forward to working collaboratively with the ABTA team and fellow Board members, as our shared commitment to excellence and customer service mean we can make progress tackling industry challenges, embrace new opportunities, and ensure the UK travel sector continues to thrive.”
