In 2024, in partnership with Citizens Advice Manchester (CAM), ABTA LifeLine assisted travel colleagues with vital debt, benefit and budgeting advice, helping write off £78,000 in debt and achieve benefit gains of £23,000 amongst other things. CAM highlighted that there was a continuing trend of travel professionals struggling due to the cost of living, with high energy costs and housing related debt.
With this week being Debt Awareness Week (24-30 March), LifeLine is reminding people of this valuable financial advice service, encouraging people who are struggling financially to get in touch.
LifeLine, in partnership with CAM, offers a confidential and supportive advice service to help people get back on their feet and take control of their finances. Not only does this service help with debt advice, it can help make sure people are getting any benefits they are entitled to.
CAM provides a dedicated case worker giving advice over the phone, there is no need to attend in person. CAM’s advice is often seen as life changing making a profound difference to not only the beneficiaries’ finances but also to their mental health and wellbeing.
Trudie Clements, ABTA LifeLine Director, said:
“We know there are more people in our community struggling with their finances. If you are, or you know someone who is struggling with debt, then please tell them about the support LifeLine can provide.
“No one should be embarrassed at coming forward. Everything is treated in the strictest confidence.
“In addition, we might also be able to provide further support, such as help with energy bills, food and replacing essential household items, this really can make a difference to your life.”
