The January peak holiday booking period is well underway, and, to support you and give your customers some inspiration, ABTA has published its annual Destinations to Watch report for 2026.
The 10 destinations aren’t intended to be the most popular or fastest growing, but instead to give some different suggestions to get customers thinking. They were chosen following insights from ABTA’s Holiday Habits survey, the views of ABTA experts, and discussions with some members.
They also offer a mix of activities and experiences to enjoy, meeting the growing demand for experiential travel and the wish of many to indulge in hobbies whilst on holiday.
With 48% of people planning to explore a new country they’ve not been to before and 54% open to discovering a new city or resort1, there’s inspiration for everyone.
Destinations to Watch aims to get people talking and thinking about their travel plans for the year. We’ll be shining a spotlight on the destinations featured and the report to consumers throughout the year on our website, social media channels and in media engagement.
The report can be found here, and we’ve also created consumer-facing pages dedicated to each of the 10 destinations.
When speaking with media, we’ve also been stressing how ABTA members can support customers with suggestions for new places and advice for a great holiday. National media are picking up on the report, with a full-page feature in The Sun and further coverage in the Daily Mail and The i Paper.
ABTA spokespeople have also been discussing the report on various radio stations, and it usually receives media mentions throughout the year.
I hope you enjoy reading it.
