The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has asked us to remind ABTA members of its online tracking strategy. This includes bringing the 1,000 most popular UK websites into compliance regarding website cookies to confirm whether:
If Members receive a letter from the ICO, please co-operate with all requests for information within the deadlines provided.
The ICO has also published comprehensive storage and access technologies guidance to assist publishers and data controllers with online tracking and managing user consent.

- Non essential advertising cookies are placed before the user has the opportunity to provide consent;
- Users are able to reject non-essential advertising cookies as easily as they can accept them; and
- Non-essential advertising cookies are placed even if the user did not consent to such cookies.
If Members receive a letter from the ICO, please co-operate with all requests for information within the deadlines provided.
