Media presence is one of the main ways in which we boost the ABTA brand, encouraging consumers to book with you, our members. Our media work also helps support the health of the industry, by helping people to travel with confidence.
This month so far we have appeared in nearly every national newspaper at least once, as well as featuring on broadcast outlets including the BBC News Channel and a wide range of radio stations.
In terms of topics, we’ve explained the importance of booking with an ABTA member as part of our work to mark Sunshine Saturday and provided booking inspiration in the shape of our Destinations to Watch report.
We’ve also clarified what consumers need to know about the new Electronic Travel Authorisation and – so important during peaks – advised consumers of steps they can take to avoid being a victim of fraud.
Our media coverage can be at its most effective when presenters or reporters themselves say that people should book with ABTA members, rather than just report our words. It’s a great endorsement to have and, in the past couple of weeks, media including the BBC’s Morning Live and TV show Rip Off Britain have done exactly that.
We’ll aim to keep a high media presence throughout the year, helping to drive bookings and providing consumers with the information they need to travel with confidence.
