This week, ABTA launched its first annual Skills Survey, inviting members to share insights on recruitment challenges and skills gaps across the travel industry.

The survey is designed to gather evidence on where the pressure points are – from recruitment and retention to training and future workforce development. It also seeks to discover how businesses are engaging with apprenticeships, graduate programmes and education providers to attract and develop future talent.

The findings will inform ABTA’s work with industry partners to address these issues and ensure members have the support they need to attract, retain and develop skilled teams.

This initiative sits within our wider programme of work on education and skills, which focuses on promoting careers in travel and strengthening the pipeline of new talent. As part of that programme, ABTA established and leads the Tourism Industry Skills Working Group, a cross-sector forum that brings together organisations from across travel and tourism to identify priority skills gaps, share practical solutions, and work with government and education bodies to improve recruitment and training opportunities.

The Skills Survey will remain open until Monday 15 December. I encourage all members to take part and to share it with the relevant person in your business. Your input will provide valuable evidence to guide our collective work to strengthen skills and support the long-term success of the travel industry.
